The project started up with three little classes, and in the second year a 4th grade and a kindergarten group got added. When the Escola Rural Dendê da Serra moved to its own space in 2003, there were already five groups of children. At the beginning of 2004 the school started the second cycle of fundamental education, offering a 5th grade, which became class 6 in 2005 and class 7 in 2006, and this process was concluded last year with our first 8th grade leaving the school. This “pioneer“ class, which was ahead of the developement of our school in the last four years, graduated in December 2007. To be able to keep this rhythm of growth we had to build a new class room every year. Our beautiful kindergarten which offers space for two groups of children was built in 2003, and three further class rooms were added in the following years. In the meantime we also got a little room for extra lessons as well as a “cabana” for activities outside and a building for the Arts lessons.
