MACULELÊ IN THE 7th GRADE – African roots in Brazilian culture
The main Geography theme in the 7th grade is the study of the African continent. In this context, teacher Elisa decided to work with a very special element of Afro-Brazilian culture in her classes: Maculelê, a mixture of fight and dance, with percussion and traditional Black songs. Maculelê challenges the students, their physical ability and concentration, and the result is a beautiful and impressive choreography.
For this activity, we count on the help of teacher Tiago, a capoeira and dance instructor of Serra Grande, who is teaching Maculelê to the students and preparing a presentation to be shown to the public in October. |
