Handcrafts at waldorf schools include working with clay and also with firmer materials like wood and bamboo. The organisation of the work and the correct handling of the tools are part of the objectives of these lessons, too. The pupils produce pretty and handy items like spoons, bowls, toys etc.
In our region we also have some beautiful natural resources which can be used, including a great variety of coconuts and seeds as well as palm fibres and leaves like “piaçava“ and “dendê“. Handcrafts also offer a great opportunity for our students to start a possible professional career, and are hence one of our priorities. The classes 6 to 8 have regular classes with our wood work teacher, in a workshop with benches and a basic equipment of tools, and we hope we will be able to improve these facilities in the near future. |
